Who we are
Hummingbird Medicine Wellness Center is a Native women led nonprofit dedicated to providing culturally grounded wellness support and connection through land-based healing practices. Rooted in Indigenous values of food sovereignty, land stewardship, and advocacy, we support our youth, families, and Two-Spirit communities through sacred spaces of care, education, and tradition. We honor ancestral knowledge while protecting future generations, advocating for safety, healing, and cultural continuity of our people.
Our values are rooted in the sacred relationship between land, body, and spirit. We center Indigenous worldviews that uplift food as medicine, land as teacher, and community as healer. We believe wellness is not a commodity, but a collective responsibility shaped by intergenerational care, cultural practice, and connection to place. We honor the leadership of our matriarchs and Two-Spirit relatives, uphold sovereignty in all forms, and commit to dismantling systems that disconnect us from our ancestral lifeways. Our work is guided by respect, reciprocity, and remembrance, so that healing today becomes protection for the generations to come.
The Ranch
Our farm is nestled on 18 acres of land in Tulare County, where we’re restoring a sacred relationship between land, culture, and healing. From medicine gardens and pollinator hedgerows to community spaces for gathering and ceremony, we’re cultivating a place where Indigenous stewardship, food sovereignty, and ancestral knowledge are not only practiced, but honored and passed on.
We honor that our farm sits on the ancestral and unceded homeland of the Yokuts. We offer our deep respect to the Indigenous peoples of this region, past, present, and future, who continue to maintain spiritual and cultural ties to this land despite centuries of displacement and colonization. As an Indigenous-women led project, we are committed to building right relationship with local tribal communities, uplifting their voices, and practicing respectful, reciprocal care for the land.
